Annual Sports Meet


DPS Khanna organised its 12th Annual Sports Meet on the 27th of November, 2022 with great zeal and excitement. Lt Gen JP Singh (Retd.) PVSM, AVSM was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr Maninder Singh Brar, Manager, Akal Sen Sec. School, Sangrur was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest Lt Gen JP Singh took the salute of the well-synchronised march past followed by the school band.
Students entered into the spirit of the occasion with the oath being administered by the Sports Captain, Sehaj Sukhleen Singh. The sports day was inaugurated by the Chief Guest by releasing balloons and a placard bearing the school’s name.
The school ground of DPS Khanna dazzled in the morning with the rhythmic exercises presented by the students of Prep. The yoga asanas performed by the students of grades IV & V rejuvenated the spirit of the spectators.
The horse riding show was the star attraction of the day. Bhangra presented by the students of grades IV-VI cast a spell on the audience.
Then the much-awaited track and field events started, as the budding athletes of DPS Khanna ran for the finishing line. The school campus reverberated with enthusiastic cheers from the spectators.
Parvir Singh Benipal from grade XII D and Jasmeen Kaur from XII C were declared as the Best Athlete Boys and the Best Athlete Girls of the meet respectively. Panther House was declared the Best House of the year 2022. Medals and certificates were given to the winners for their glorious achievements.
The Chairman Mr DS Bains, in his speech, said that sports mirror life and it is an integral part of DPSK. He told the students that sports teach us to accept victory and defeat gracefully and bounce back with new zeal. He also announced that DPSK is going to start a shooting range next year. He also made public that a student exchange programme would be launched with the Akal Sr Sec School, Sangrur.
The Chief Guest Lt Gen JP Singh addressed the students as stars of tomorrow who have their orbit and their own space. The war veteran of 1971 war shared his experience and advised the students about the three fundamental principles of life- 1. Look inward 2. Have control over yourself 3. Never compromise with your ethics and integrity.
Ashneet Kaur, the Head Girl proposed the vote of thanks and the event concluded with the National Anthem.
