‘Sharing & Caring’ is the theme of the month of August. To nurture such a great value right from the childhood, the students of pre-primary wing were taken to the Old Age Home, Bullepur near Khanna. The tiny tots interacted with the old people there. The students narrated stories,recited rhymes and played with them. They distributed gifts among them as a token of love & respect..
Students of pre primary celebrated the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan with great excitement. A special event was organized to educate the students about the significance of this festival. Tiny-tots put their best efforts to prepare colourful rakhis.
The 70th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour. The function started with the hoisting of the National Flag. The school campus wore a festive look. There was an excitement in the air. Various events were organized to mark the occasion ranging from patriotic songs to group dances.
DPS students brought laurels to school by securing 2nd position in the U-14 Girls Table Tennis Tournament organized by Sahodaya School Complex Ludhiana East (Khanna) at Gobindgarh Public School on August 4 & 5,2016 respectively.
The Teej festival was celebrated with great zeal & zest on August 6,2016 by the students of classes I,II & III students came in colourful dresses. They sang songs and danced on the tunes of folk music. Kheer-pua was the main dish in their lunch boxes.
They also participated in rakhi making competition. Rakhis prepared by students won the heart of everyone.
A birthday is a momentous occasion, to have fun & frolic, celebration & to receive gifts. No birthday is complete without a tasty treat. Here, at DPS, Birthday Party etiquettes are nurtured in the students from the beginning.
In our endeavour to inculcate such values, a birthday party was organized on August 3,2016.Little buddies helped the teachers in decorating the hall, laying the table etc.Imbibing good table manners was the core value of this celebration.
Inculcating deep love & respect for nature and birds was the main purpose of celebrating Go Green Day by Pre-Primary wing. The tiny hands prepared food containers for birds using waste material. Children made paper bags from waste newspapers raising the “Slogan say no to use plastic bags”

Taking into account these words of Mahatma Gandhi, DPS Khanna came up with an initiative by the students of Grade I,II & III of planting saplings and further by gifting them to all the staff members. The school also distributed trash cans in the market to proceed further with the Go Green Campaign.
Special assembly was held on July 16,2016 on the theme of ‘Tree Plantation’ by stallion House to bring awareness among the students for a healthy environment.
